Charles Njagua Kanyi, also known as Jaguar, is a Kenyan politician, ex-musician, entrepreneur, and Member of Parliament representing Nairobi's Starehe Constituency.
Family and Childhood
He was reared by a single mother with three children but died when he was eleven years old. Until then, she was the only living guardian. This motivated him to labor and hunt for odd jobs in order to support himself and finish his school. He did some touting work and received some help from friends to get through high school.
A Career in Music
Njagua made his musical debut in 2004 with the release of his first single, Utaweza Kweli. He recorded it for Mandugu Digitali Records before signing with one of the major labels, Ogopa Deejays. His popularity skyrocketed with the release of his song Kigeugeu in 2005, and he quickly became a household figure in Kenya's entertainment industry. In 2013, he moved to Main Switch Productions and produced a number of successful songs, including Kipepeo and One Centimeter. He also worked with various artists, including Iyanya from Nigeria and Mafikizolo from South Africa.
Political Profession
He was elected MP for Starehe on the Jubilee ticket in 2017, overcoming huge names like Steve Mbogo and others. His nomination the previous year was tough, and he was up against Maina Kamanda in the Jubilee nominations. He was selected as the NACADA director by President Uhuru Kenyatta and enjoys this opulent position.
Marriage and children
Charles Njagua has three children, two females and a girl from different mothers. He apparently married after private images of his wedding in South Africa were leaked.
