IIndman, real name Phenyo Kgaffe, is a South African visual artist and electronica producer who was born on November 25, 1992.
Apart from being a visual artist, he has made significant contributions to the development of electronic music in South Africa.
Early Years
IIndman was born Phenyo Kgaffe on November 25, 1992 in Mahikeng, a small town in South Africa's North West province.
Although he had previously created visual arts as a hobby, he decided to try his hand at music and began to take and record his music into the DAW - FL Studio in 2007.
A few years later, in 2019, he began work on an album called Rebel Without a Pause with Mo'Molemi.
At the age of sixteen, he was already a producer and the mind behind Lyv Records' song Lefika-Town feat. Spikey.
Phenyo collaborated with AKA of the I.V League on visuals for the SA Hype Magazine Hip Hop Awards. He worked in advertising and marketing visuals for country music events.
Aside from his work as a visual artist, he is laying the groundwork for the country's electronic music, which speaks for itself. Some of Phenyo's works were released as early as 2013.
Career
In 2007, he began recording songs in the DAW - FL Studio. He did, however, continue to create visual art as a hobby.
In 2009, he began working on the album "Rebel Without a Pause" with Mo'Molemi.
He wrote and produced the song Lefika-Town feat. Spikey.
He collaborated on visuals for the SA Hype Magazine Hip Hop Awards with AKA of the I.V League. He has also created visuals for advertising and marketing for African music events.
Music
He began to experiment with electronica, combining it with abstract art. In 2015, the artist released his first electronic EP, La Bella Vita EP. The 6-track EP caused quite a stir in the music industry.
He also released a single with Camilla Luna, a Norwegian singer. He also remixed ECHLN's "Honey" song. IIndman distinguishes himself in his work by combining distinct tones.
Visuals
He goes to Tumblr to get pictures to inspire him and to experiment on the computer. He started with editing, using Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Paint to create posters and abstract art.
In 2009, he began working with Adobe Photoshop and began creating images with an urban-vintage tone in a dark futuristic environment.
The internet gave him a platform to reach out to a larger audience while also inspiring him. Mark Ryden, James Turrell, Oleg Dou, and other talented visual artists have influenced him.
