Austine Odhiambo, known by his stage name, Emma Jalamo, is a Kenyan Luo- Ohangla singer and songwriter. He is known for his prowess in singing, always leaving his listener in shock, disarray, and thrilled. He doesn’t only compose songs and sings for fun, but also he teaches from his songs.
He has mentored, many musicians among them Prince Indah and is currently known as the King of Ohangla.
Among his trucks which has a lot of teaching with his lyrical composition, “We chayo Jathum”. In this song, he talks of how you shouldn’t disrespect one another since no one can have it all.
He further says that how possible is it that you disrespect a musician, but you don’t own a bicycle? You walk and roam around like an antelope.
Emma Jalamo, whose real name is Austine Odhiambo, was born in 1980 in Ugunja Siaya County, where he was raised until he came of age. He attended school just like children of his generation, but he didn’t complete his studies due to some issues among then financial constraints since he was from a humble family.
He was a Nehema church member and Jalamo served the church as a choir team leader; Jalamo then discovered his singing talent. Jalamo still had no idea that music would be his gateway to a better life. Emma Jalamo produced his first music album, a gospel composition containing six songs; he continued to do menial jobs to earn a living. When he encountered Seth Oloo, who was a musician back in 2008, and Seth properly introduced him into the music world. Seth gave him a special invitation to help him to help in playing the piano and later paid him Ksh 600 ($6), and his eyes opened, and he saw a music career.
Emma Jalamo married his lovely wife Ammillo Nyar Nyakach, and they have been since blessed with three beautiful children’s namely, Mary, Oscar, and Ramsey. When he does not attend to his music, he spends time with his family and checks on his businesses. He runs an organization and also owns Lelo Production Studios, among other companies not mentioned herein.

Through his various income sources, he has been able to accumulate a good fortune but prefers to lead a modest lifestyle.

Emma Jalamo worked with the late Lady Maureen until he produced his first album, First Lady. Seeing his successbat the corner, Lady Maureen adviced him to form his own band for better retuns. Emma then took a step to recruit a team that could help him deliver live performances whenever he got a show. Then he came up with, The Ramogi Ohangla Rhumba band, R.O.R.
After he released his third album, Simba Ja Uriri, in August 2012 that he rose to fame. In that album, songs like; Ma ee ndalo, Jaraha, and Gololi became his fan’s favorites immediately. In his entire music career, Emma Jalamo has released albums like; Simba Jauriri, Marcelina, Mapenzi, Osiepe, Sherry, and Ruth Rembo.
Even though Emma Jalamo mentored Prince Indah who has taken the Ohangla genre to different heights, it is rumored the two are never friends any more. It is not clear why they had to part wasy and become enemies but it is in the corridors it is associated with how they seperated. Emma wanted Indah to remain in his music band; and when Indah grew bigger in the Ohangla space, Emma did not like it and Indah also did not humble enough. However, in the public the two hides it completely but their body language betrays them.
