He has a commanding presence in the Kenyan gospel sector that cannot be overlooked. David Kilonzo, a.k.a. DK Kwenye Beat, has risen through the ranks to become one of Kenya's most recognized local artists, but his path has not been without setbacks.
DK's passion for music began at a young age, when he was born in Kangundo, Machakos. He would lead other youngsters in song during Sunday school, and he gradually developed a stage presence that would come in helpful later in life.
He attended Komarock Primary School before transferring to Shining Hills Secondary School. He actively participated in theatrical festivals and was a member of the Christian Union Club.
Despite this, he was able to rebound and propel his career with songs such as Sari Sari starring Anto Neo Soul, Kofi Yoo featuring Masterpiece, and Asusu featuring Chuchu, Kereka, and Pakacha.
He plans to release new songs in the next two weeks as he prepares for the Groove Awards, for which he has been nominated.
When it comes to partnerships, DK stated that he prefers to keep his personal life separate from Hollywood, but he is not looking! With music inspirations such as Kirk Franklin, DK confesses that one should not be scared to ask for help in the music industry.
