David Lutalo (born 8 March 1986), is a Ugandan singer, artist and performer from East Africa, who shot to stardom ten years back with his single Kapapaala in 2008, published under his own Record Label "Da Hares". He began recording music in 2008 and has many solo tracks as well as collaborations with Eddy Kenzo, Bebe Cool, Goodlyfe Crew, and Solid Star.

Lutalo is well-known among Ugandan music fans for his unusual, high-toned, harsh voice, which has made him popular among both rural and urban Ugandans. In some quarters, he was named the unofficial Ugandan musician of the year in 2014. Lutalo collaborated with Mowzey Radio and Weasle of Goodlyfe Crew to create Hellena in 2013. In 2014, he worked with a young musician named Maro, Mubbi bubi. The video for David Lutalo's song "Kabisi Ka Ndagala" has been released. He was named Best Male Artist and Artist of the Year at the HiPipo Music Awards ceremony in January 2016.

David Lutalo was born in the Luweero district to Luggya Robinson (father) and Mastula Nassazi (mother). He is highly renowned for his ability to sing fluently in Luganda, Swahili, and a little English. He attended several schools, including Kikunyu Primary School and Balitta Lwogi Primary School, where he received his Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), and Kasana Town Academy Luwero for his high school studies, where he received his Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and after that, David went to Busisa Grammar for his A-Level education, which ended halfway and he left school without completing his A-level.

How did David Lutalo get involved in music?

David Lutalo's fascination with music began at a young age. He wrote the lyrics to his 'Batusosola' song in high school and later composed the famous Kapapala song. He struggled to raise funds for a studio session and ended up doing odd jobs such as brick laying and charcoal burning. The money, however, was insufficient, so he agreed to pay in bits with the studio manager.
He had a difficult time taking his music to radio stations because he was unknown. In 2008, he released his famous song, Kapapala, and he quickly became a household name, attracting fans from all over Uganda. His distinctive vocals and lyrical maturity have made him a fan favorite.
