Her resignation sparked outrage at the time, with many describing it as a significant loss for women. In retrospect, it wasn't exactly a significant loss, as Basani Maluleke landed another prestigious position at Capitec, which she described as "the best bank in Mzansi." 
 

While working at the African Bank, she and her colleagues saw Capitec as a major threat and the bank to beat. She believes that Capitec is the bank that all other South African banks should strive to emulate.


Basani Maluleke is thrilled to be at Capitec, which she describes as "full of like-minded people." She praised Capitec's performance over the last two decades, as well as the bank's goal of becoming the best in the world.
