Traditional media in Kenya is under siege from social media platforms, YouTube, and bloggers, who have emerged as sources of news and entertainment. When it comes to entertainment, our subject for this essay is one of the comedians who have been generating well-thought-out viral clips that they publish on social media and other platforms. Alex Mathenge, real name Alex Macharia Wanjugu, has worked as a radio comedian, voice talent, MC/creative writer, digital influencer, and YouTuber. Here is the comedian's biography.

Education
Alex attended Kirinyaga County's Kerugoya Boys High School. Following his O-levels, he enrolled at Kenyatta University and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Education (Arts) majoring in English & Literature.
Career
His seven page portfolio is impressive. This is a man destined for the big stage, and he knew it early on. Like most actors, he started building his career blocks at a young age, and by the time he entered high school, he knew he wanted to be a comedian. Shortly after being admitted in 2005, he passed the prestigious Kenyatta University Traveling his theater audition. he was cast as a dancer. His technique-focused comedian went on to become executive director of a theater company that spawned list after list including Kajairo, Caroline Nderitu, Mudomo Baggy, and Rediculous.
Due to his apparent talents, he has worked with the Born Free Foundation, Rediculous Limited and Scan Ad. Mathenge has also appeared in films such as Mizoga, Comrade Taka, Merchant of Venice and BBC's Comic Relief. All these achievements when he was still a student at KU.
Mathenge, which means herd of male goats in the Kikuyu language, was given to him in 2008 when he was volunteering at the radio station KU He was hosting his show Morning. He popularized the radio station with his funny anecdotes and gained a sizeable following. The comedian played the role of money-crazed Kikutomo. Mathenge was also responsible for commercial creation and the Saturday studio.
After graduating in 2009, Mathenge worked as a writer and speaker on his XYZ show which aired on NTV. He is the voice of Moi and Kiraite in XYZ. He later participated in the now-defunct Nation owned He Q-Fm breakfast show, where he had been assigned a segment for SERYKALY. They played two corrupt cops with partner Eric Kilingo in SERYKALY. The striking duo hosted his Klabu Raha show every Saturday from 9pm to 12pm on the same channel.
In 2014, Mathenge left her Qfm to pursue other interests.
According to his profile, Alex has been the MC at over 100 social and corporate events since he turned pro in 2009.
Makarao TV
is a popular webisode that humorously tells the story of two police officers. The idea for animation came from Alex Kirui and has grown in importance over the years. Mathenge has said that producing animation is tedious and that once a plot is completed, it can become obsolete.
