Education
Yeonmi Park's sister, Eun-mi, who was 16 at the time, fled to China with the help of a smuggler in 2007. Keum Sook Byeon, Yeonmi's mother, remained in North Korea.
In early January 2017, the young lady married an American citizen named Ezekiel. Yeonmi Park's education at Columbia University, which was centered on General Studies, was halted when the young activist became pregnant. On March 18, 2018, she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy of mixed ethnicity.
The story of Yeonmi Park
She crossed the partially frozen Yalu River into China with her mother in 2007, fleeing her homeland of North Korea. She claims she was sexually abused by a human trafficker and saw her mother sold and forced to marry a Chinese farm worker. She later crossed the Gobi Desert to Mongolia in search of refuge before landing in South Korea in 2009. The famous author described making a deal with her smuggler, who promised to reunite her with her parents if she agreed to become his "xiao-xifu," or mistress. The only other option was deportation to North Korea, possibly followed by imprisonment or execution.
