Abel Mutua Put in a Cell at School

In 2004, while waiting to sit for the KCSE Exams in Form Four, one kid in their class thought he was not prepared. The only way to ensure he avoided the impending examiner was to burn down the school dormitory.

While he was doing so, his plot was discovered and a trap was set for him. The watchman caught him red-handed.

The school administration, not confident that he could carry out the entire arson on his own, pressured the perpetrator to expose his accomplices. The man intentionally mentioned Abel as a co-planner.

Abel, a delinquent from Kibera, Nairobi, who never missed a school suspension in any given year, could not persuade anyone that he was not a part of the scheme. His plausible alibi was untrustworthy.

He was placed in a cell near the school's main entrance for further inquiry. Fortunately, it took the culprit's mother to persuade him to retract his claim that Abel was a co-perpetrator. Abel was finally and completely removed from the school cell.
