Remedies to Menstrual cramps


When women reach puberty, their bodies discharge blood from the uterus through the vagina. This happens once per month until you reach menopause or you are pregnant. This process is called menestration. Menstruation lasts for 3 to 4 days and this period is a girl’s night mare. It is accompanied with headaches, mood swings, stomach aches, pimples and menstrual cramps. The signs may differ depending on different people. Some people do not feel any of the signs throughout their period. This article is going to talk about remedies to menstrual cramps.

Menstrual cramps also known as dysmenorrhea are a pain a women feel on their lower abdomen. They are caused by the contraction of the uterus walls as blood is coming out. They may vary according to women. Some experience them mildly while others very severely.

Remedies to menstrual cramps

  • Drink a lot of water. When having menstrual cramps, drink a lot of water like about 8 glasses a day. It helps you keep hydrated and makes the blood flow easy. Although it might not work instantly it will benefit you. It is advised to normalize drinking a lot of water so as to have a healthy cycle

  • Exercise especially the abdomen. You can engage into yoga, lift your legs and jog a little bit. This will ease your pain.
  • Heat the abdomen with a heating pad. Place the heating pad at your abdomen and alternate it with the more painful part. You can supplement it with a water bottle.
  • Have an orgasm. Yes have sex and not just any sex, the kind which will bring you an orgasm. Orgasms produce oxytocin which help.
  • Cinnamon, ginger and Lemon. They produce vitamin C which is helpful. You can heat water add the herbs and a little honey to taste.

The don’t when having menstrual cramps

  • Fatty food
  • Drink alcohol or smoke
  • Take a lot of sugar
  • Pain meds
  • Caffeine




The long term way to get rid of Cramps is by healthy eating and increasing the intake of Vitamin Exercising regularly say three to four times a week will also work magic. Menstrual cramps although uncomfortable they are actually normal.You should seek medical attention if the menstrual pains are too severe and can not be curbed by home solutions.
