In the wake of a company known as Whitepath Credit news in the mainstream media. There is need to put a stop. And that starts with you. They recently formed a whatsapp group and added all the contact list of one of their customer; impersonated him that he is about to commit suicide because he was unable to pay his KES 25K debt that he borrowed from the app.

Now, the trend has been going on for sometime, the government did their part. So yours is needed. The digital lenders are believed to be worth billions of money they mint from poor citizens. Even though they will be fined about KES 5million, that's just a drop in the ocean. Meaning they will comfortably pay the amount and go on with their evil acts.

If they are reported or fined multiple times they will lose their license. Yes they will but will that stop them? No because the following day they will form another company with different directors and carry on with their deeds. So at all cost, you always have to protect them from getting your data using the following ways:

1. Deny them you contact list: Well before they can read your phonebook, the phone will ask for your permission. But unfortuantely if you deny them this, they will decline your loan application. Thus this is not the ultimate solution.

2. Uninstall the app after the loan. This has been rumoured to be working but its false. Once they pick all your contact list. They will save them on their database and can retrieve them anytime even you uninstalled the app. The data is permanently theirs.

3. Give them wrong data: This is the ultimate solution. Why? Most of your contact list noways will be saved on your gmail if you turn on the feature. So first of all backup all your data on your gmail account then remove the gmail from your phone. Save a few random false contactlist with fake names on your phone; this is after you removed your real contact list. Now go on to the app and give them the permission to access your phonebook. They will upload incorrect information. Whenever they try to reach these contacts, these people dont you or they dont even exist. It means your relatives and friends wont get their threats and calls.
