She practices modeling because she loves it. Rue was chosen as the 2017 face of Nivea. She continues to appear on Nivea billboards in Kenya's largest cities. She received significant cash and other gifts from the Nivea company as part of the contract, which also included a brand endorsement. She was a competitor in the Miss Universe Kenya pageant as well.

Early in 2019, Rue and Vesha appeared in the Michael M. Jones-directed short telenovela series "Love Daggers" from Kenya. Former Machachari star Taylor Mbaya (Bahati) and other actors from the Varshita drama series are among the other actors who appeared in the film.

Love Daggers is a new Kenyan creative series that revolves around the theme of love, hatred and betrayal in love. Rue is one of the major characters  in the drama series.
